Racing Biography

The adoration for all things on two wheels started at the influential age of 13 for Rahul. The family business of small engine repair led to Rahul's addiction to his 50cc scooter in his native Delhi, India. At the age of 16, Rahul's insatiable thirst for higher levels of performance was met with an equipment upgrade to a 2 stroke Yamaha 125. Many a day was spent with his relatives and older local sensations to enhance his skills - this eventually led to Rahul competing in local racing events. 19 years old and mildly seasoned in riding, repairing and racing motorcycles, Rahul moved to Canada. His history around motorcycles and youthfulness are coupled with discipline, intensity, and competitiveness. traits well suited to racing.

Rahul purchased a brand new Yamaha YZF-R6 - after a brief ride home and a few moments to revel in its beaty, Rahul registered for his first track day to hone his skill on the track and familiarize himself with the negotiations between his abilities and the capabilities of the motorcycle. It was quickly clear that his thirst for challenging competition would not be satisfied with simple track days and with the prodding from existing racers and no argument from the motorcycle, he decided to pursue the next step in his racing evolution.

Rahul studied the fundamentals of F.A.S.T. under the tutelage of Michel Mercier to polish his skills and refine his abilities. As a personal test and not a quest for points, Rahul decided to test the waters by registering for a R.A.C.E. sanctioned event with the intentions of preparing for the 2005 season. He qualified in every race that he entered and finished 19th in AM SuperBike on a 600cc motorcycle after starting 34th in his first R.A.C.E. event in 2004.

With his first completed season in 2005, Rahul finished Top10 in R.A.C.E. AM600 events points standing as a rookie for 2005, with his best finish @ 6th spot at the last regional. Rahul also finished Top15 in National AM600 class as a rookie.

With a lot of experience and lessons learned from the 2005 year, Rahul was geared up to have a strong presence in regional and national road racing series' and achieve his goal to win a championship.
