MISSISSAUGA, ON - GoLo Racing would like to announce 2009 Annual Max Mercier Memorial Breakfast. With its introduction in 2006, this is the 4th year we are fortunate enough to present this event offered in loving memory of Max Mercier at the R.A.C.E. Super Series Round #2.
Max Mercier was not only a gifted motorcycle racer but an exemplary person who inspired people around him in many ways. He was, and still remains, an inspiration to his peers in the sport, his fans on and off the track, and of course, his loving family and friends.
Rahul Dua of GoLo Racing, with the support of Max's father, Michel Mercier, of Fast Racing School has once again organized the Max Mercier Memorial Breakfast to start the 2009 Canadian road racing season. A.J. Tibayan from Hot Lap Events and Pat Gonsalves from Parts Canada Superbike Series/Q107 will be the key players this year. This event will raise funds in memory of Max in order to provide support for the Canadian Road Racing community.
The Max Mercier Memorial Breakfast will take place at Shannonville Motorsport Park during the R.A.C.E. Super Series (Round #2) on Sunday, May 17th, 2009 at 7:30am. All racers, marshals, RACE staff and crew members are invited to enjoy the breakfast, at the track in front of the FAST riding school's garage. There is no charge for the breakfast, but racers are asked to bring in donations of any amount, 100% of which will go directly to the Max Mercier Charity Fund. Funds raised from this event will be used for our own Canadian Road Racing community.
It has always been a great event, 2006, 2007, and 2008, as it has brought the whole racing community together to start the season on a positive note, remembering our fellow racer and raising money which will be used to promote and support our community. “We were able to get a fully Automated Cardiac Defibrillator and CPR assistance Unit as our first contribution to the Canadian Road Racing Community in 2007 and last year we were able to solidify the SMP corner 2 (pro track) RUN OFF issues” says Rahul Dua from GoLo Racing. A survey for corner improvements was available online on www.GoLoRacing.com in conjunction with hand outs on Saturday morning’s riders meeting to get the feedback from riders. Results were in favour of fixing the Pro track corner two as that was the biggest concern among riders and did see RUN OFF improvements.
We are also proud to announce that we will take the fundraising to another level by hosting The Max Mercier Memorial Track day at Shannonville Motorsports Park on August 28th 2009. Riders and Racers will be able to enjoy the Long Track configuration for a very low cost of $99 with 100% of the proceeds going to the Max Mercier Safety Funds. Registration will be available during the breakfast this weekend at Shannonville Motorsports Park or online at the link below
